Summary
Jackie Robinson was an African American baseball player who went through discrimination. Jackie Robinson became a professional black baseball player who made the Brooklyn Dodgers because of Branch Rickey. Branch Rickey noticed that he wanted to change racism since there was a lot of discrimination against black players but even Charley Thomas who was one of the baseball players; he wasn't able to sleep in a hotel because of the color of his skin. Branch Rickey then took some notes on how the special baseball player should be; he included that the person needed to have the guts to take all the insults but not do anything about it. This was the Noble Experiment. Branch Rickey then went on a look out for this special person, until he found it and it was Jackie Robinson. Branch Rickey asked Jackie Robinson if he would like to be in the Brooklyn Dodgers but before that he told him a little lie. Rickey talked to Jackie about the requirements of being in the Brooklyn Dodgers. Jackie agreed but Branch Rickey wanted to make sure, so he tested Rickey by talking bad about his family and his skin color. Branch Rickey realized that Jackie did have the guts to stay calm when he was discriminated by whites.

Theme
The book I listened to was Thank You, Mr. Falker. The conflict of Thank You, Mr. Falker is that Trisha wasn't able to read. The more she tried to read the less she was able too. Trisha reacted to her conflict very badly. She thought of herself as being a really dumb person and that only made it worse because she didn't believe in herself and so that made it even worse. The theme of the story was that you should always believe in yourself so that you have the positivity to be able to do what ever you wanted to do.
